The Society of Kitakyushu Independent Language Learning Schools is a network of small, independent operations in the Kitakyushu area established in March 2009 for the purpose of marketing our individual enterprises to a much wider audience than we would otherwise be able to afford. Due to the prohibitive cost of advertising, few of us are able to use the media cost-effectively on anything more than a sporadic nature at best, if at all. By pooling our financial resources we are able to develop and maintain a highly recognizable brand name through a strong and permanent advertising presence in several media simultaneously, allowing us to better compete with the multi-million dollar advertising budgets of the main players in the language teaching industry.
Our multimedia approach directs people to a comprehensive website (and central phone number for the computer shy) detailing specific information for each school including maps, web links and contact details. Our print advertising options include free monthly magazines like POS; weekly newspapers like Sunday and Living Kitakyushu; directories like Town Pages; and hand delivered flyers and brochures.
We feel that the market in this city is large, recession proof, and greatly under-served due to the disproportionate share controlled by a few large organizations with deep advertising pockets. The typical small owner-operated concern can easily compete on price, quality and commitment to education but invariably remains virtually unknown outside of their immediate neighborhood.
Our membership fee is 10,000 yen per month. There are no other fees or obligations.
The founding members have owned and operated their schools for several years and have deep roots in the community. Our perspective is thus long term, as is our commitment to building and maintaining a strong, viable and highly visible network of quality-oriented, locally-focused language schools for the betterment of the communities in which we live.
